Seagulls

In 2021 and 2022 we raised funds to fly some birds of prey over Canynge Square (and surrounding roads) in order to deter them from nesting. In this period we believe it has been successful in reducing the number of seagulls nesting on our properties. For 2023 the majority of Canynge Square residents do not wish to continue with this approach and so we will not be doing any flights this coming Spring. Residents in other roads are considering continuing in their area and so we may see the NBC birds flying nearby.

Meanwhile, there are other things we can do to try and deter seagulls. Many residents now have spikes on their roofs and chimneys, which seem to be effective. Others have model birds and sound emitters. There are many options on the internet for such devices.

CSGC would like to thank Ian Sutherland for his time and effort in raising the funds for the birds of prey and organising the flights. Ian raised around £5,000 in both 2021 and 2022 from residents of 7 roads in the area. Thanks again Ian.
